一棵棵树枝叶茂盛,金色的叶子在风中发出轻微的沙沙声，就像是不断随风飘下的五彩纸屑。
很快就进十一月了，随之而来的将是秋日的风雨和悬在头顶上像湿抹布一般的乌云。盯着树
木在亮晶晶的青草地上投下巨大神秘的阴影，牛无精打采地甩着尾巴，我想，让一切都保持
现在这个样子吧。在姹紫嫣红的紫菀，大丽花，太阳花还有玫瑰的掩映下，一切都静悄悄的。
秋天的早晨很冷。晚上在被窝里也冻得瑟瑟发抖。但在正午阳光的照耀下，草上的雾气蒸发
了，蝴蝶和黄蜂飞来飞去，蛛网在窗户的反射的阳光下像闪闪发光的银色蕾丝。树木和灌木
的果实，像是浆果，山毛榉果实，栗子，和榛子，是人们一年辛苦劳作的收获。
突然间我想起了现在住在阿姆斯特丹的小女儿。再过一天她会打电话问我郁金香种下没有。
我会逗逗她，说我正等着她回来帮我呢。然后两人会沉浸在回忆中，因为过去我们经常这样。

Father and I haven’t met for more than 2 years, and what I couldn’t forget is the sight of his back.
Misfortunes never come singly. In the winter of more than two years ago, grandma died and father
lost his job. I left Beijing for Xuzhou to join father in hastening home to attend grandma’s funeral.
When I met father in Xuzhou, the sight of the disorderly mess in the courtyard and the thought of
grandma started tears trickling down my cheeks. Father said: “Now that things have come to such
a pass, it's no use cring. Fortunately, Heaven always leaves one a way out.”
After arriving hone in Yangzhou, father sold off the family property to pay the debt and borrowed
money to undertake the funeral. Between grandma’s funeral and father’s unemployment, our
family was then in reduced circumstances. After the funeral, father went to Nanjing hunting for
job, and I back to Beijing to resume my study. And we traveled together.
Arrived in Nanjing, a friend asked me out and lingered for one day; and I was ferrying across the
Yangtze River to Pukou the next morning. Father was quite busy, and he was not intended to see
me off but to ask an acquainted waiter to accompany me. He urged the waiter again and again to
take good care of me, but still did not quite trust him. He hesitated for quite a while about what to
do. Actually, I was 20 then and had already traveled on the Beijing-Pukou Railway a couple of
times. There’s nothing to worry about. After some wavering, he finally decided that he himself
would accompany me to the station. I tried to persuade him not to see me off; he just said: “Never
mind! It won’t do to trust guys like those hotel boys.”
