An Introduction to Applied Linguistics Teaching & Research Section
西北民族大学外国语学院应用语言学教研室成立于2001年，有正、副主任各1名，教师26名；其中博士研究生1名，硕士研究生27名；教授1名，副教授7名，讲师10名，助教 8名。教研室成员的专业发展方向主要为英语教学法，承担外国语学院英语专业部分骨干课的教学任务，开设英语教学法、计算机辅助教学、语言测试、语言学、毕业生论文写作等课程，负责教学见习、毕业实习等工作。
教研室教师专业基础扎实，具有一定的教学和科研实力，教研室成立近6年来，在各自的领域里不断探索，通过与国内外各高校的著名学者和教授交流，通过外出参观学习，借鉴了大量的经验，并在应用语言学研究方面取得了初步成效，出版专著5部，发表专业论文150余篇。
应用语言学教研室将不断加强学术，更好地为师生做好服务工作，以人为本，助人成功。
Applied Linguistics Teaching & Research Section of School of Foreign Languages，founded in the year 2001．is composed of 1 section head，1 deputy section head，and 26 professional teachers，including 1 PhD，27 MA，among whom there is 1 professor，7 associate professors，10 lecturers，8 teaching assistants．The Section has a large scope of academic interests in English language teaching methodology，and offers such courses as English Language Testing，Computer-Assisted Language Teaching （CALL），English Language Teaching Mehtodology，English Linguistics，Graduation Paper Writing，etc．Meanwhile，it also takes charge of teaching practice and graduation practice．
In the past 6 years，all the teaching staff，either co-operatively or individually，through an investigation in different areas，have made a close and face-to-face communicative interaction with noted scholars and teachers both at home and abroad．Through visits to other universities inside and outside Gansu Province，and more importantly，through the internal TDP （Teacher Development Program）and class observation，they have obtained and accumulated a large amount of information and much experience in different respects．Hence，a preliminary achievement has been make in applied English studies with a publication of 5 academic books and more than 150 papers．
Applied Linguistics Teaching & Research Section will attach more importance to the improvement of academics，stick to the principle of serving the teaching and learning of the School，and make even greater efforts to help students succeed both humanistically and academically．
