A Brief Introduction of College English Teaching and Research Section
大学英语教研室，成立于1980年9月。现有教师47名，其中40人为专职教师，另外7人同时担任专业英语和公共英语的教学任务。目前有副教授6人，讲师16人，助教18人。承担了全校18个院部150个教学班的大学英语课程和研究生英语课程。
教材采用上海外语教育出版社出版的全新版《大学英语》读写教程、听说教程和快速阅读等；高等教育出版社出版的《体验英语》读写教程、听说教程；外语教学与研究出版社出版的《当代研究生英语》读写教程、听说教程和翻译教程等国家教育部普通高等教育“十五”国家级规划教材。
大学英语教研室的教师在完成大量的教学任务的同时，注重科研工作并获得一定成果，完成部级、校级课题2项，正在实施校级改革课题2项。有多名教师成长为中青年骨干，并发表科研论文近60篇。
大学英语教研室积极组织举办全国性的大学英语竞赛，CCTV杯演讲比赛，四，六辅导班，以及丰富多彩的课外活动促进并提高了教学质量，活跃了学习气氛，培养了学生学习英语的兴趣。
大学英语教研室将以崭新的风貌，坚持“以人为本，助人成功”的理念，以服务学生为我们的教学宗旨，以饱满的工作热情圆满完成大学英语的教学任务。
College English Teaching and Research Section，founded in September 1980．has a total number of 47 teachers，of whom 40 are full-time teachers and another 7 serve as both English major and non-English major teachers．The section consists of 6 associate professors，16 lecturers and 18 teaching assistants．They shoulder the teaching tasks of 150 classes from 18 schools both at undergraduate and postgraduate level．
At present，the section adopts a set of newly–edited textbooks，such as College English by Shanghai Foreign Language Education Press；Experiencing English by Higher Education Press；Contemporary Graduates’ English by Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press．All these materials are the Tenth Five-Year National-Level Planned Teaching Materials for high education by the Ministry of Education．
In terms of scientific research，remarkable achivements have been made：one ministerial-level and one university-level research projects；2 university-level research projects of teaching reform under way．Most of the middle-aged as well as the young teachers have published over 60 academic articles and grown into backbone teachers of the School．In addition to the normal teaching affairs，each year College English Teaching and Research Section organizes CCTV Cup English Speaking Contes，Band 4 and Band 6 remedial classes，and conducts a wide variety of extra-curricular activities and a series of extra-curriculum activities to improve the quality of teaching，which has greatly aroused the students’ interest in learnng English language and enlivened students’s campus life．
Adhering to the principle of “People-Oriented and Helping People Succeed”，College English Teaching and Research Section will take on a new look and fulfil the college English teaching duties with greater enthusiasm．
